JULY CONTEST WINNER

Congratulations to Dale and Sue Morrow, owner/operators of Morrow’s Housemoving, Inc. located in Jackson, Nebraska. SafeTruck’s July 2015 Oversize Load Contest Winner!

June 5, 2015 was moving day for a 115-year-old log cabin. Morrow’s Housemoving of Jackson, Nebraska, prepped the structure for the move from the Plymouth County Fairgrounds to the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars, Iowa. A semitrailer truck pulled the log cabin, mounted on a trailer over a segment of Iowa Highway 3 and several city streets. Traffic backed up at times, but drivers and onlookers smiled and enjoyed the celebration of the move of the historic cabin.

Sue Morrow told us, “The Joy Hollow Log Cabin was built around the turn of the century. The total weight of our load was 93,700 pounds. Overall length was 67 feet, overall width was 24 feet and we were just under 21 feet for height. The move went through the city of Le Mars and received much publicity due to the fact that the Museum had raised the funds to move it through donations and various fundraising activities. The log cabin has a rich history and we were honored to have had the privilege to have moved it for a great cause – to save it from demolition.”

The 115 year old log cabin was built about 1900 by Judge J. L. Kennedy, of Sioux City. It was moved from Sioux City to a Girl Scout camp in Woodbury County in 1923, to Joy Hollow Girl Scout Camp in Plymouth County in 1982, to the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in 2004 and to the Plymouth County Historical Museum in 2015.

The Morrow’s won their SafeTruck Oversize Load banner at a house moving convention. Sue said, “Many movers and vendors donated items to be given away as door prizes at the convention. SafeTruck products are very durable. We do not leave our banner and flags on the truck after hauling our loads. They are carefully put into the vehicle awaiting the next load. That way when we pull them out they are still just as bright and colorful as the day we first got them. We highly recommend purchasing SafeTruck products.”

Congratulations to Dale and Sue Morrow…. and thank you for sharing your successful heavy haul trip utilizing SafeTruck OSL banners and flags!
